Talking Animals!

I love animals but am not able to take care of any at this time. I often wonder what they are thinking, because I am sure that if they could speak to us they would have something to say! Every once in a while I can see cute recordings of animals that people have downloaded online. I can't remember how I found this You Tube channel but I love it! You Tube Klaatu42 has a channel called Talking Animals. I get a kick every time I watch his interpretations of what he thinks the animal is saying.

I also found some other talking animals on a different You Tube channel and I LOVE this! It always makes me laugh! You might have to watch it a couple of times to get what in the world the cats are doing.

Happy Pioneer Day! Today we celebrate the lives of those who sacrificed so much to make a better life for those they love and pave the way for many generations. We commemorate the Latter-day Saint pioneers who forged across the unknown with hardly any possession but the fire of faith in their heart and hope of a bright future.

I love this time of year because my thoughts are turned to learning about the amazing lives of my ancestors. Their life stories are fascinating. There is a lot to be learned about the lives they lived and it’s wonderful to find bits of information about their life here and there. I am not sure how I stumbled across this website http://www.ellisisland.org/ but I was able to find the day one of my great-grandmother and her family arrived in the United States and what ship she came on. This web site brought to life some of her some of her experiences. I was able to learn about the ship that she traveled on and I found this painted picture of the ship.

I am so grateful for the faith of the loved ones who lived what they believed and were and example of goodness. They helped make it possible for me to have the gospel in my life today. There are modern day pioneers that continue to pave the way for the future of their loved ones. With faith in the healing power our Savior they strive to live what they believe especially when faced with trials, conflicts, and hardships.

CRAZY BUSY - BUT LOVING LIFE!!

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted. It is the end of the year which equals a ton of assessments. Just think of 53 students x any information that I need to test then enter scores by a certain date - all entered online. I'll tell you I get pretty sick of looking at a computer after a while!!!
Luckily we were able to take our students on a field trip. Yes, I am wiped out, but so grateful that we were all safe. What was the students highlight of the day? Riding the the big yellow bus!!

Well! I have taken quite the cyberspace vacation!! I am not sure where to begin to catch up from my leave of absence.

Instead of trying to record every detail of my life since the flat tire, I'll just start out by recording what I'm thinking right now at this very instant. I am not as enthused with this wallpaper background- it's gotta go!! So we'll see how soon I can rearrange this kaleidoscope to something a wee bit less, "Hello wall of random patterns" to something with a simpler background.

Hey, that kind of reminds me of my life! I'd like to rearrange it so that it is just a little simpler. Currently I'm trying to organize and that definitely is not my forte!

Happy Birthday
to me!

I did not turn 7 years old this year but I didn't get a picture of me with my cake so I thought I'd post my all time favorite birthday cake (I LOVED cookie monster)!
I love to see how children get so excited about growing one year older. Why is it that when we advance in our year of life do many give such a negative connection to birthdays. Okay, so I know many could list off a few reasons.
I must admit that I groan a little with getting a little older and wondering about my life. There are certain "rites of passage" that I haven't yet claimed in my advancement in years. Sometimes I feel like I've missed the boat and yet I can't ever lose hope. I like to try to look at birthdays as progression in life. Our age is a symbol of years of life experiences that hopefully have helped us grow wiser in life.
There are many challenges wrought along the way, but instead of asking why and focusing on things that haven't happened in my life I need to focus on the incredible experiences that have happened in my life.
I see myself as very blessed to be back in a family ward and to be able to interact with people of all ages and walks of life. I've already learned so much from them in their own experiences and wisdom they've shared with me.

so here's to life!

Spooky October!!

Yikes! The month of October is what really slowed me down for making ANY posts. All of my time was concentrated on figuring out how to help many students in my class.

It seemed as if some of my students practicing for their upcoming spooky Halloween costume. I guess some of them really wanted to get in character!

But really the highlight of the month was seeing some of those cutie pies dress up for Halloween. This brought cheer to me at the end of a month that seemed one of the most challenging months in my teaching history!

Some Simple Thoughts and Profound Outcomes

This past Friday was a completely draining day. I really wanted to talk to someone, but the people I usually chat with were unavailable. I wanted that two way communication. I thought, wouldn't it be wonderful if I could have a chat with Heavenly Father? Then I thought in a sense I can - through prayer and scripture study. There are so many stories in the scriptures that can be applied to my own life. I know through prayer I am blessed with profound thoughts that have been sent from above. He heard me through prayer, I heard Him through uplifting thoughts and scripture study.

I have just returned from a “a trip of a lifetime!” Thanks to my sis who helped make it possible for me to have this amazing experience. I learned so much about different people, their cultures, and world history.
When I returned to my sweet community I decided to go on a walk (this is a great mode of transportation I had become quite accustomed to for the past month). I picked up my mail and thought about the huge contrasts between my community and the places I visited.
However I found a similarity between all the places I visited.
I stopped by a cute little mom and pop grocery store (I was the only customer). I said to them this is a nice store and it was my first time shopping there. The man replied, “Thanks. Store has been around since the 40’s.” As I walked across the street and crossed through an apartment complex I came across many signs describing the history of that surrounding location. There were stories of tithing warehouses, and railroads that transported saints to General Conference.
Right then I realized that wherever around the world I go I can find a story – it might be simple but there’s something to share. We can learn from the past of all different kinds of people & places and hopefully as we gain an understanding it will shape us into a better person.

Manti Temple

Things finally slowed down in my life and I'm finally getting a chance to write in here!! Early in May our ward traveled down to the Manti Temple. It was quite the rainy drive.

We hurried to get into the temple to do a work that is so profoundly great.

When we finished we were able to take some pictures. This was one of my favs. I love the stone on the Manti Temple.

Wow!! With a day that started out so wet and cold - it was great to see the clouds part and see the magnificent blue skies and blossoms.

Lemons ARE Magic!!

So what happens when life takes a turn for the worse and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel? This is the way I felt last week. I'd rather not go into detail about my stupidity that led me to a lot of frustration and almost little optimism but as my last blog said look for things in life to discover and find joy in them.

Well I had a lot of cleaning to do last weekend and I really don't like to use harsh chemicals. I happen to have some lemons & I remembered a co-worker making a delicious cider that she slow cooked all day with lemons in it. Well instead of making the cider I decided to just warm up lemons on the stove. I was surprised by this natural air freshener and remembered that it is possible to clean some things with lemon. I was excited by this mini-discovery of magical lemons and it did brighten my day and help me cope with the major clean up. So I guess the old saying is true, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonaide!"

Okay, so I have to share this story today. I hesitate to post because my lack of writing skills, however, I have to share.
Two of my students(names have been changed) came up to me and yelled
"Miss Wimberg, you've got to see Brig's magical pencil!!"
I decided to get as excited as they were (even though I have seen these pencils a hundred times).

I responded, "Whoa! How does it work?"
Breathlessly they explained, "You can take out this part of the pencil, put it in the back and an brand new one appears!!! AND if you put the pencil in an eraser, the pencil disappears!!!"
I realized at that moment this IS magical and amazing to these 5 & 6 year olds and that is why they are so happy and excited so much of the time. They are discovering so many new things.
I decided that I need to start discovering things that are new to me and get a flavor for this magical joy!
